Day 19: A Script That Makes You Think About Life

A Shameful Hello, Readers

As mentioned today in the Day 18's entry I have fallen behind due to work and personal issues that have proved a distraction. Alas - I'll find a loophole and solider on with as many tenuous links as I can find to complete at least two thirds of this challenge.

'Today's' script is one that is more abstract in it's meeting of the brief - for what is life? Can that be answered? Life is existence surely, and with existence comes the questions of consciousness, our origins, the nature of self. Thus, I thought an old script of mine The Double might serve the dual purpose serving the tenuous link and also catching me up as I head towards a freer weekend.

The Double is an incredibly short piece - a one minute script in fact, written as one of the first assessments on my MA. How to make a film in a minute? How to write a film in a page when I'm famously always over page count- as you'll soon see. How indeed?

This weird little idea came to me in the shower and suggests not only at a larger narrative, but larger questions - which I think fit with, quite frankly, an incredibly broad and effectively - utterly meaningless theme.

The film actually ended up being made by MA film students are several budgetary and location edits, but this is the original undiluted version - after a quick tidy up for spelling and grammar - so technically I have worked on it today.

Here's The Double.
