Day 1: A Script With A Colour In The Title

Hello intrepid Scripters!

So here we are, day one of the challenge!

I feel like I've got off to quite a misleading start as this one came to me quite easily and quickly with almost no pain or suffering. Granted I've been mulling it over for about four days or so, so by the time it hit the page it was pretty much already formed - the only cause for pause was the solution of how to get the doll out of the tree. But I hope some artistic licence is allowed.

Tonally, this one plays out in my head like an animated short of some kind. A sort of charming Pixar-esque tale about those simple wonders of childhood that warm the heart and form lasting memories that you often come back to under the hue of rose tinted glasses. Ah youth! Annoyingly this one is also set in summer, so could have equally been used for day three!

Also, I'm nowhere arrogant enough to claim this is on the same level as Pixar - but I hope you see what I mean.

On that note, I found that writing with American terminology - for example, 'yard' and 'candy bars' seemed to help me tap into the tone I was going for, which I've never experienced before but I think really helped sell that sort of suburban summer American neighbourhood.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy. This is Fred's Red Engine.
