Day 7: A Script About Exploration

Guten Tag Scripters!

Today's script was an incredibly enjoyable one to write. It also has a really fun genesis.

What you're about to read is a little adaptation of a small exercise I did a few months ago. As part of my Graphic Fiction module I was required to write a five page comic based upon a public domain property.

There was only one thing I was interested in tackling  - the fantastic SCP Foundation. For those who are unware the SCP Foundation is a group community wiki project that operates under creative commons licence - meaning that anyone can use the property as long it is credited. A quick Google will take you down the SCP rabbit-hole and I really recommend you do as there is some terrific writing and some terrifying concepts!

Struggling to think of an original and scary SCP, I took some liberties and decided to combine the Foundation with a tale of classic literature instead - placing characters and stories that are in the public domain within the universe of the SCP. My way to justify this was to create an SCP team that are tasked investigating well known literary icons and characters, the conceit being that perhaps those stories, like traditional myths and legends were also based on some sort of truth. This is the 'Bonekickers' team that Colonel O'Brien leads.

I won't spoil the final twist, but I really enjoyed writing the original comic, and so it was a simple case of translating it to screen format.

I hope you enjoy SCP-6112 and this is dedicated to all those brilliant minds who have haunted my dreams with their utterly horrifying Foundation files.
